Last night I volunteered with so many of my Grunt Girl teammates at the 2nd Annual Shatter the Silence trail run. The 7 mile course throughout the Cuyahoga National Park benefited the Summit and Medina Rape Crisis Center, and we had an excellent turn-out. I helped man the water stop on the course and had a great time. All the runners were kind and courteous and some were super fast -- such an inspiration!
Tomorrow Leo and I will be run in the St. Bernadette Run with the Big Dogs, a 5k on the west side of Cleveland. It's been awhile since I've done a 5k, so it'll be interesting to see what my time is. My body has gotten so used to long distance runng, I'm not sure how 3.1 miles will go. I tend to need a mile or so just to warm up! Since I'm in taper mode, I'm not planning on going all-out; this is just a fun thing to do with my fiance. If Onyx were younger, I'd have her run with me. Since she reaching the ripe old dog age of 6, however, she has decided to retire from road racing and enjoy a quiet retirement filled with belly rubs and doggie treats. I'm sure she would have loved a race called "Run with the Big Dogs" since she considers herself to be a big dog.
The rest of the weekend will include a short swim and ride as well as the Grunt Girls team picnic on Sunday afternoon at Huntington. Can't wait!
Happy weekend everyone!

So excited for you!!!!!!!! Need any gels? bars? sports drink? let me know as I can bring you some 'supplies' tomorrow :)

I am echoing Sarah here but I am so proud of you! You are going to rock this, and of course Onyx will still think she is bigger stuff than you. Wish I could be there to cheer you on!
